Do you have a fear of sewing curve pieced blocks?  For some reason, this fear was holding me back.  Now, granted, I was a seamstress before I started quilting, and I sewed set in sleeves all the time!  But for some reason, seeing all the curve quilting blocks stopped me in my tracks, and I refused to do them.  I’m glad to say I have now conquered that fear.  And I want to share this great easy Curves Wall Hanging quilt with you.  Grab the free pattern HERE.

I found this great fall-colors fat quarter pack at Hobby Lobby.  Typically, I’m a prints gal, but when I saw this bundle, it jumped out at me.  The colors are unlike anything I usually quilt with, and I’m so glad I took a leap and bought it.

This project doesn’t take a lot of fabric.  I used fat quarters, but you can certainly use your stash.  I did not use up all of the fat quarters and had some leftover fabric.

When using the templates, I decided to fold my fat quarter cut two at a time.  I’m all about saving time.  Go ahead and use your rotary cutter, or trace the templates and use your scissors.  Either will work!

Just look at those colors again!

Now, there are several ways to sew your curve blocks.  You can use lots of pins or you can use glue.  The first time I made a curve block, I used a gazillion pins, but the second time, I decided to use the glue method.  I marked the center of my inner and outer curve piece, and I did use one pin for the center.  Then, I took my glue stick and placed a dab of glue on both ends of the outer curve.

Starting out, you may want to use the pinning method. it gives you extra confidence.  Just be careful and go slow when stitching your 1/4″ seam.

Once you make your curve blocks, you’re done.  No trimming — just some assembling.

Take some time to get your blocks in the proper order according to the pattern layout.  It can get a little confusing when you start to assemble your rows.

I had a lot of fun quilting this one on my Baby Lock Regent.  Those diagonal lines were screaming for feathers.  In the inner curves, I went with straight lines to give it more interest.  Loving how it turned out.  Get the free pattern HERE.

I pieced this quilt using my Baby Lock Lyric.

For the free motion quilting, I did a combination of ruler work and free motion on my Baby Lock Regent.
