What three words best describe you? Creative, Organized, Hard Working
How long have you been quilting? 17 years
How did you get started quilting? My mom is a sewist. I grew up with her always sewing something- often it was our clothes and prom dresses but she also had a drapery business. She made curtains and comforters, etc for people for many years. She is so talented. When I got out of college, I decided to buy my first machine and start sewing as well. I’d say I am not as brave as she is – she just goes for it, but I learn something new from her everyday. I started out making baby quilts and skirts/dresses.
What is your favorite part of quilting? This is hard because I often find the current thing I am doing to be the most fun- planning, cutting, piecing, etc. But if I had to choose I’d say hand quilting is my favorite part. I love to spend time snuggling with the quilt and quietly sewing.
What is your least favorite part of quilting? Pressing- so it’s often avoided or not done well.
Do you have a day job? If so, what do you do? I do! I am a mom to 2 kids (4 and 7) and I have my Masters in Social Work- on the administrative side. I am a fundraiser for a national non profit- The Foundation For Prader Willi Research.
Do you design your own quilt patterns? I design my own quilt patterns. I didn’t use patterns until a few years ago, which helped me learn so much. This year I designed and released my first pattern- Vintage Vinyls. I hope there are more in my future.
Favorite quilt designer? Suzy Quilts- she really got me to expand my skills and push myself in quilting. I am also really intoZak Foster. I am so excited to see all the new quilt designers out there!
What’s the first concert you ever attended? Third Eye Blind (I love live music so much)
