Do you have a day job?If so, what do you do?I am a High School Spanish Teacher. I’ve been teaching for twelve years now inNew York City public schools. I teach 8th – 11th grade Advanced Spanish and AP Spanish Language.
How long have you been quilting?Four years, but I have been watching my mother sew for my entire life!
How did you get started quilting?My best friend (@morgannmakes) and I made it our 2018 New Year’s resolution to learn how to quilt, and together we started the insta account@sewspicious. I have been quilting ever since.
What is your favorite part of quilting?Starting a new project. I love matching the perfect pattern to the perfect person, then picking out the fabrics and laying everything out.
What is your least favorite part of quilting?Trimming HSTs. It’s so time-consuming and repetitive. But when there are thousands of HSTs to trim, I like to put on a favoritepodcast (lately I’m into Scam Goddess and Higher Learning!) and go into zen mode.
Do you design your own quilt patterns?I have dabbled in creatingmy own quilt designs. My goal this year is to create a pattern that I can put up for sale eventually.
Favorite quilt designer or fabric designer?My favorite quilt pattern at the moment is the Looper Quilt by Miss Make. It’s so versatile! You can create so many different quilts using that pattern.
What three words best describe you?This is a hard question because I hate describing myself. But if I had to choose: driven, compassionate, and funny.
What was thefirst concert youeverattended?The first concert I ever attended on my own was a Romeo Santos concert at Madison Square Garden in 2018.
