How long have you been quilting?
About 18 years +/-. However, because there is always so much to learn, I will always consider myself a beginner!!! In reality, I am an Intermediate piecer.
How did you get started quilting?
When we moved to Colorado from Michigan, I knew I would need a way to make new friends. I had always wanted to learn to quilt. I joined the Rocky Mountain Wa Shonaji Quilt Guild and the rest is history!
What is your favorite part of quilting?
I find the final step of attaching the binding by hand, so relaxing and cathartic. Of course, the final, final step is or should be putting on the label.
What is your least favorite part of quilting?
Maybe, the steps involved in cutting out the various pieces of fabric for piecing the quilt together. However, I do realize accuracy is so important. Measure twice, cut once!!!
Do you have a day job? If so, what do you do?
I am retired. However, if you maintain a home and do other things, such as volunteering, family, etc, that can be the same as an unpaid day job.
Do you design your own quilt patterns?
No I don’t. Maybe someday I will get into that. I have become a fan of improvisational piecing.
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I just LOVE chicken of any kind; baked, rotisserie, smoked, grilled, barbeque, in a salad, chicken salad…you name it.
What three words best describe you?
Intuitive, detail-oriented, and Nanna.
Which fabric do you prefer: Prints or Solids?
I like both, but if I could only select one, it would be prints.
Favorite season?
For me, the season of spring brings about such a sense of renewal and awakening.

I’d like to promote the Rocky Mountain Wa Shonaji Quilt Guild and the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum.
- I have been a member of Wa Shonaji Quilt Guild since 2003 and have served on the Board for most of those years. I have been privileged to serve as president for several terms, and have held other offices within the Guild. I am currently past president and a member the Exhibit Committee. Wa Shonaji is just an AWESOME Guild, and it provided me, at the time, the support I needed as a newcomer to Colorado and to quilting. - I became a member of the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum located in Golden, CO in about 2004. I was encouraged by a former Guild member to become a Docent at the Museum, and I have had such an awesome journey during the years I have volunteered there. I have learned so much more about quilts and quilting and the various genres of quilting than I could have ever imagined. I have the privilege of seeing old quilts, new quilts, quilts made by men, modern quilts, themed quilts, meeting visitors from all over the United States and the World.
