Meet Vasudha Govindan of Storied Quilts. Vasudha is the featured designer of color beginning May 1. Her pattern, Dodge the Geese is is expired on 11/1/22 and is no longer available. To purchase the pattern please contact Vasudha directly via her website below. If you were a member before 11/1/22, and unable to download this pattern before the deadline, please contact me.

Vasudha is an engineer by day and quilter by night. She started quilting almost 20 years ago, making baby quilts and small gifts for family and friends. She is mostly self-taught, and learned the basics from quilting books borrowed from her local library, well before YouTube tutorials became available. In 2017, she started a blog (storiedquilts.com) and joined InstaGram (@storiedquilts314). That introduced her to a wide community of quilters, where she was introduced to Modern Quilting. In Modern Quilting, Vasudha found an aesthetic that spoke to her and inspired her to get more deeply involved in the art, the craft and the community of quilting.

Vasudha’s quilts were juried into the Houston International Quilt Festival in 2019, QuiltCon in 2020, 2021 and 2022. Her most recent quilt, Hexagon Rising, will show at the AQS quilt show in Paducah in April 2022. Her patterns have been published in multiple magazines and catalogs. Vasudha’s designs are heavily influenced by the arts and crafts of India, where she grew up. She finds inspiration for her designs in concepts from math, science, engineering and architecture. Vasudha is an active member of the Houston Modern Quilt Guild. She lives with her husband and two boys in Houston, Texas.
