Name: Whitney Street

Where do you live: Central Illinois

Do you have a day job?If so, what do you do? Yes! I’m an experienced researcher. I try to fix those minor and major annoyances in our daily life and make everything as easy and intuitive to use as possible.

How long have you been quilting? over 20 years.

How did you get started quilting? I started sewing clothes when I was a teenager and wanted to wear clothes not traditionally found in stores. Over the years that drive to make hasshifted from clothes to crafts to quilting and back again.

What is your favorite part of quilting? I used to say I wasn’t a process person but quilting helped me become more of one! For the longest time I loved finishing a quilt, then I started loving free motion quilting but lately I’ve loved cutting fabric and chain piecing.

What is your least favorite part of quilting? Basting. We don’t have a big enough space for me to do it withoutgetting wrinkles or cat hair everywhere.

Do you design your own quilt patterns? Sort of. I’ve made simple design blocks and used EQ to lay out quilts with embroidered designs but I still love following a pattern or kid from an actual quilt pattern maker.

Favorite quilt designer or fabric designer? This is a tough question. I’m mostly drawn to modern quilts and bold colors but as I try to think of a favorite it’s hard. I’ll say I’m almost always drawn to Krista Moser’s quilts and love how some of her designs use the ombré fabrics by V and Co.

What three words best describe you? curious, sarcastic, creative
